RDAP Service - A Modern Approach to Accessing Registration Data
In addition to the existing WHOIS service, the KazNIC platform provides the RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) service. This service is a modern alternative to WHOIS and is designed to provide registration information about network resources in a format suitable for automated processing.
RDAP Protocol Features
RDAP is a specialized protocol for retrieving information about network objects such as IP addresses, Autonomous Systems (AS), and domain names. Unlike traditional access systems, RDAP is based on the HTTPS protocol and delivers data in a structured JSON format.
Key Advantages of the Service
- Machine-readable format: The data can be easily integrated into automated monitoring systems, information security platforms, and IT analytics tools without the need for manual text parsing.
- Security and stability: HTTPS support ensures traffic encryption and reliable operation through modern web interfaces.
- Internationalization: The service correctly supports multiple character encodings and complies with global Internet standards.
The RDAP implementation is based on the following IETF standards:
- RFC 7482 Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) Query Format
- RFC 7483 JSON Responses for the Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP)
- RFC 7484 Finding the Authoritative Registration Data (RDAP) Service
Requests to the RDAP service can be sent to the following endpoint: https://rdap.nic.kz/domain/доменное-имя
